Black Soldier Fly Lifespan

Black Soldier Fly lifespan from egg to adult: dynamic changes of nutrient composition.
4000 folds increase in dry biomass of individual Black Soldier fly larvae for 2 weeks development.

Crude protein was 45% in eggs, whereas it increases to 56% in neonatal larvae after hatching. Its maximum value 57.6% occurs at postmortem (dead) adult flies. One question: what should we deal with dead flies? especially with high amount of protein.

Crude fat absolute content of individual BSF/BSFL reaches the highest level in the mature larvae stage, that is, early-prepupa stage during larvae stage.

The crude protein and crude fat increases rapidly and reaches the highest level in the early prepupa. Therefore, mature larvae and early prepupa are the life cycle stages for generation of BSF meal.
